ORMOC CITY - A promise to help and lead our fisherfolk to the doors of a brighter tomorrow. The SAAD program or the Special Area for Agricultural Development , a brainchild of the Department of Agriculture's Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, is one of the thrusts of the Bureau towards food security and poverty alleviation amongst the marginalized sector of the country’s fisherfolk.
Fulfilling this promise, Region 8’s Samar and Leyte islands are included in these developmental areas and are currently being the focus of project implementation that seeks to help the fisherfolk of our nation.
As project implementation intensifies, BFAR8 is currently hosting the BFAR SAAD 2nd Quarter Assessment at Ormoc City, Leyte. Said assessment was participated by representatives from eleven regions of the country which are also beneficiaries of SAAD.
Considering that the program has a 5-year time frame, all of the 30 provinces included are closely evaluated and assessed to monitor the various project implementations. This is to determine the areas and aspects that can still be improved in order to deliver nothing more than the best assistance that our fisherfolk needs.
A promise void of empty words and a promise of hope for a better tomorrow. Through a successful implementation of SAAD, BFAR8 together with the help of the unsung heroes of our country will turn dreams into hope and promises transformed to reality.
